Accelerating Forward: Accell Construction returns for their second race of the season with Alex Bowman and the No.7 Chevrolet, previously serving as primary sponsor at Texas Motor Speedway in early April. Following two top-20 finishes in the last three races, the momentum favors Bowman and team heading to Kansas.
Back on the Box: Tommy Baldwin has won the Daytona 500 (2002 with Ward Burton) and served as crew chief for a who's who of NASCAR stars including Burton, Jimmy Spencer, Kasey Kahne and Michael Waltrip. Now as owner of Tommy Baldwin Racing, Baldwin returns to the pit box beginning at Kansas to work with Alex Bowman.
In the Rearview Mirror: Bowman and the No.7 Golden Corral team started the GEICO 500 from the 37th position. Gaining ground early in the race, Bowman worked his way into the top-25 by lap 20. Getting minor damage in "the big one," Bowman was brought to pit road for fresh tires and repairs to the rear of the car. Staying strong the remainder of the race, Alex Bowman crossed the finish line in 16th - a season-best finish for the No.7 team.
Bowman says: "I love racing at Kansas since back in my ARCA days. Kansas is a smooth, fast track that produces great racing for both drivers and fans alike."
Did You Know: Alex Bowman is very familiar with racing at Kansas Speedway and that traces back to his days in the ARCA Series. During his ARCA career (2011-12) Bowman has two wins at Kansas Speedway. With just one start in the XFINITY Series, Bowman started 11th and finished 11th as well.
